Lessons From The New Moon
Before I started to think about this new moon or make my posts for social media, I felt its energy in my bones. That’s not always the case even though the new moon allows us to access our feelings more easily, heightens our intuition, and also opens a portal to our unconscious.
July 5th’s new moon is in the sign of Cancer. The sign of Cancer carries the energy of emotional sensitivity and awareness, intuition, and a focus on our home. My emotions became unavoidable - and believe me, I had been trying to avoid one in particular. As an astrologer, I knew that the way to work with the energy of this new moon was to allow myself the time and space for reflection. I listened to the truth in my heart and the flow of energy from my soul.
It became clear to me that I was feeling discouraged and that fighting it had left me depleted. So, I just let myself feel it. Afterall, the only way out is through. I tried not to let my mind get involved and try to fix things or reframe things. I stayed quiet and listened.
After some time, I realized that my discouragement originated from my expectations. My new task was to explore my expectations. What is the difference between putting the vision of our biggest desires out into the universe in order for them to be manifested and expecting that our dreams will instantly come true? I think “instantly” is the conceptual problem. It’s also unmeasurable. An “instant” means something different depending on the context. I truly believe that I have been patient and have been working hard toward the dream that I wish to manifest, but maybe more patience and perseverance and self-love are needed - and fewer notions that I can control the outcome. Perhaps, I need to simply trust that things will unfold in the right timing.
The new moon is a time to set intentions. This time, I am borrowing the lyrics to a chant: I Release Control by Alexa Sunshine Rose. It goes like this:
“I release control and surrender to the flow of love that heals me.”
I’ll say this intention everyday - even multiple times a day. Come the full moon later this month, I'll look for more to be illuminated and released and I’ll look to see what has come to pass.
Blessings to you on this new moon. Set aside your own time for reflection, for feeling your feelings, and for setting intentions.
