There are three considerations for us to examine for this New Moon:
The rarity of two New Moons occurring in a single calendar month;
The meaning of the last New Moon of the year in Capricorn; and
The tension created by an aspect to the New Moon.
BLACK MOON
A second new moon in a single calendar month is very rare. This only occurs approximately once every 2.5 to 3 years. It is called a Black Moon.
New Moons already signify fresh starts and planting seeds for the future. A Black Moon amplifies this energy, urging a deeper dive into self-reflection and setting intentions that are particularly significant or long-term. This time is a unique window for truly profound change, as it doubles the cosmic energy supporting growth and transition.
It’s a time to confront fears that have gotten in the way of our dreams and prepare for a fresh phase with greater awareness and the courage to begin to build the life we desire.
A Black Moon is a gateway to heightened intuition and connection to the spiritual realm. The power of the Divine Feminine, intuition, and the cyclical nature of life are amplified. This Moon is encouraging alignment with our inner rhythms and trust in divine timing. We can lean on the guidance from this enhanced spiritual connection as we set in place the structures to support our aspirations.
FINAL NEW MOON OF THE YEAR IN CAPRICORN
As the final new moon of the year, it encourages us to review our year’s journey. It’s a time to celebrate what we’ve achieved, release what does not support our greater good, and set the foundation for the new year.
A Black Moon in late December combines the themes of closure, reflection, and preparation for new beginnings with the grounded and determined energy of Capricorn.
It’s time for a new journey, one that is grounded and supported by divine timing and guidance. This Moon’s energy emphasizes the value of a slow and steady pace. It encourages us to trust the process, knowing that success often comes through consistent effort over time.

This new moon focuses on creating practical, achievable intentions that align with our higher purpose. Capricorn’s energy calls for accountability and responsibility. INFLUENCES ON THIS NEW MOON
The New Moon in Capricorn is square The Midheaven in Aries. A square creates tension and challenges that require growth and resolution.
The tension here lies between the grounded, methodical approach of Capricorn (New Moon) and the impulsive, ambitious, trailblazing drive of Aries (the Midheaven).
This Black Moon asks us to set intentions for building structures in our lives that align with our inner values and external aspirations.
It forces us to reconcile inner emotional needs with external career ambitions or societal expectations.
HOW I AM USING THIS ENERGY
As I reflected on the past six months, I realized that I didn’t follow through on many of my ambitious ideas for my spiritual coaching practice because of my lack of focus, structure, accountability, and ownership.
I prepared for new beginnings by committing to changing this pattern.
I realized that I need a tool to structure my time, focus my attention on my priorities and long-term goals, and own my authority. I am resurrecting a tool from my past - THE TIMELINE. I also recognize that I need an ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER to keep me on the path to manifesting my goals - and I know just who to ask.
I work with the tension of the internal and external by living my soulful life purpose through my work. I am completely emotionally and spiritually invested in what I do, yet I need to embrace the skills offered by Capricorn if I am to be successful and sane.
My intention and commitment to myself for 2025 is to manifest more of my ideas by harnessing Capricorn energy.
Suggestions:
Set intentions that are specific, long-term, aspirational, purposeful, and values-based.
Create a vision board or write a detailed plan of the life you wish to build. Include steps to integrate both spiritual and material aspirations.
This is a powerful time to think about how our actions and align with our long-term spiritual and material goals.
